Śródmieście (German: Stadtmitte ) is a district of the Polish capital Warsaw on the western bank of the Vistula . It forms the city center, here are the most important administrative buildings and ministries, many shops and theaters.

Some of Warsaw's most important tourist attractions are also located here, including the UNESCO World Heritage of Warsaw's Old Town with the Royal Castle , Sigismund's Column and the Old Town Market, as well as the tallest building in Warsaw (the Palace of Culture at 234 m), the oldest part of the University ( around 1809) and the oldest public park ( Sächsischer Garten - opened in 1727). In the north-west of the inner city there is Warsaw's largest residential area, Za Żelazną Bramą with around 25,000 inhabitants, many offices, a few skyscrapers and the Warsaw Central Railway Station . Another well-known residential area is Mariensztat in the Powiśle subdistrict .
