Białołęka is the northernmost district of the Polish capital Warsaw .

history

The village of Białołęka was founded around 1425 by the Gołyński family. In 1938 Białołeka had about 900 inhabitants and belonged to the Bródno municipality .

In 1994 Białołęka was renamed Warszawa-Białołeka as a municipality as a result of the law on the redistribution of the urban area of ​​the capital Warsaw. In 2002 the territorial affiliation changed again, the municipalities became districts.

The Żerań power plant , the second largest in Warsaw, is located in Białołęka . The port of Żerań , built after the war , is located directly at the power station .

Urban district structure

The city district is roughly divided into the following parts:

  • Industrial use predominates in the center, the western, south-western and southern parts of the borough.
  • Dense residential development can be found in the western and northwestern part.
