Edgars Lūsiņš (born December 25, 1984 in Riga , Latvian SSR ) is a Latvian ice hockey goalkeeper who was last under contract with Prizma Riga in the Latvian ice hockey league.
Career
Edgars Lūsiņš began his career as a hockey player with Stalkers Juniors Daugavpils , for which he made his debut in the Latvian ice hockey league in the 2000/01 season . He then played for two and a half years for the lower class North American junior teams Indianapolis Park Tudor Prep, Dayton Gems and Traverse City Enforcers before returning to Latvia during the 2003/04 season. There he played for HK Zemgale until 2005 . Thereupon the goalkeeper stood in the following four years for the ASK Ogre , HK Riga 2000 and HK Ozolnieki / Monarhs in the Latvian ice hockey league between the posts. With HK Riga 2000 he also took part in the Belarusian extra league in the 2008/09 season .
For the 2009/10 season Lūsiņš received a contract with REV Bremerhaven from the 2nd Bundesliga . There he was able to draw attention to himself with a goal average of 2.80 in the 33 main round games of his team, so that Dinamo Riga from the Continental Hockey League signed him on a trial contract before the following season . The 2011/12 season began the Latvian with the Czech second division club HC Most , before Lūsiņš was committed in December 2011 by the Hanover Indians , who needed a back-up goalkeeper after the injury-related loss of Peter Holmgren .
After his engagement in Hanover, Lūsiņš moved to Copenhagen Hockey in the Danish Metal Ligaen . Between 2014 and 2017 he was then under contract with Prizma Riga in the Latvian ice hockey league and was one of the statistically best goalkeepers there.
International
For Latvia , Lūsiņš took part in the U20 Junior B World Championship in 2004 and the World Championship in 2010 . At the U20 World Cup in 2018 he was assistant coach of the Latvian team , which played in the A group of Division I.
