The 2008/09 season was the 17th season of the Belarusian Extraliga , the highest Belarusian ice hockey division . Champion was for the fourth time in the club history of HK Junost Minsk .

After two years of absence, the teams from Latvia returned to the game. However, they were not eligible to participate in the playoffs .

Main round

mode

In the main round, each of the 14 teams played a total of 52 games. The eight best-placed teams qualified for the playoffs in which the champions were played out. Each team received three points for a win after regular time, two points for a win after overtime or shootout, one point for a defeat after overtime or shootout, and zero points for a defeat after regular time.
