criticism

Above all, numerous commentators criticize the way she conducts discussions and conversations: instead of following up, critically commenting on expressions of opinion and comparing opposing positions, she merely acts as a key word. This gives politicians in particular the opportunity to use practiced PR phrases and to hide behind rhetorical platitudes and excessive, mutual accusations. In his opinion , Spiegel author Matthias Matussek Christiansens criticized the uncritical moderation of an interview with Oskar Lafontaine in 2000 and described her in this context as "Germany's most talented journalist actress".

When Christiansen announced that she wanted to end her program, Reinhard Mohr from Spiegel Online described this “media sensation” with the words: “If unsolicited advice were allowed: Sabine Christiansen should stop right away, here and now. It would be a blessing for everyone involved. "

In contrast to Mohr, the jury of the German Association of Trade Journalists recognized her “impressive journalistic achievements” and her ability to process complex political and economic content in such a way that it would be received with interest by a broad audience. The media director about the discontinuation of her ARD program ran largely diametrically opposed to this view.

In 2008 Christiansen came under fire because she had signed a PR contract with the car manufacturer Daimler AG without informing ARD about this contract. In their program Mein 2008 , which was broadcast on January 11, 2008, several celebrities appeared alongside Daimler boss Dieter Zetsche who also attend PR appointments for Daimler and Mercedes-Benz. Christiansen defended himself by stating that the contract only "came into effect" after the program had been broadcast.
