Kurów [ 'kuruf ] is a village in south-eastern Poland. It is located on Kurówka in Powiat Puławski , Lublin Voivodeship , Poland and is the seat of the Kurów rural community .
history
Kurów was founded between 1431 and 1442 under Magdeburg law .
A center of Polish Calvinism in the 16th century , most of Kurów's residents converted to Arianism by 1660 . In February 1831, Polish troops led by General Józef Dwernicki defeated Russian units at the Battle of Kurów . During the Second World War Kurów was heavily bombed by the German air force on September 9, 1939 .
