The Droga krajowa 14 (short DK14 , pol. For, national road 14 'or, national road 14') is a country road in Poland . It currently runs from Łowicz to the west of Łódź and is one of the most important traffic arteries within the city of Łódź. The total length is 69.2 kilometers.
history
Before the reorganization of the Polish road network in 1985, the entire course of today's state road 14 was part of the then state road E12. After this reform, the section from Łódź to Walichnowy was assigned to the newly created state road 14. With the reform of the numbering on May 9, 2001, the section between Łowicz and Łódź was added.
From 2008 to June 2012 the state road near Stryków ran on two different routes. One route was the connecting ramp of today's Łódź-Północ junction along the A2 motorway from the Stryków junction , which was implemented as a bypass of Stryków at the time, as well as a short section of today's western carriageway of the A1 motorway to the intersection northeast of Stryków, where the national roads 2 and 14 temporarily ran together to Łowicz. This was necessary in order to move the heavy goods vehicle out of the village of Stryków . With the opening of the A2 east to Warsaw in June 2012, the connection to the intersection was closed and state road 14 was relocated to the old route through Stryków.
With the construction of the 9.6 km long section of the S14 expressway between the Łódź-Lublinek junction to the Dobroń junction as a bypass of Pabianice, an approx. 5 km long feeder from the previous route of the state road to the Łódź-Lublinek junction was named Droga krajowa 14 BIS built. After the opening of the section and the feeder, the state road was relocated to this route and the approximately 13 km long route within the city limits of Pabianice was graded into municipal roads.
With the handover of the sections between the Dobroń and Róża junctions (S14 expressway) and between the Róża and Łask junctions ( S8 expressway ), the parallel road of the state road was divided into municipal roads over a length of 10 km. This was also the case after the completion of the S8 expressway between Łask and the Wieluń junction over a length of approx. 73 km.
Traffic safety
The road had a so-called black point (Polish: czarny point ) on the section between Łódź and Sieradz . This was a place where accidents occurred particularly often. The black dots were set up in 1998. As early as 2003, no new signs were set up due to a lack of driver attention.
