The Łódź-Północ motorway junction ( Polish : Węzeł autostradowy Łódź-Północ ) is located northeast of the Polish city of Łódź in the Łódź Voivodeship . It connects the Polish motorways A1 and A2 together and represents the second largest motorway interchange in Poland is.
history
The first connection ramp for the future motorway junction was built in 2008 as part of the Stryków bypass at that time , in order to enable truck traffic to be removed from the city. A 1.7 km long section of the A2 was created. In addition, the western carriageway of the future A1 was built, which was planned as a connection to the national road 14 near Stryków. The approximately five-kilometer bypass cost over 190 million zlotys and was opened on December 22, 2008. All bridge structures already built in the course of the bypass are to be part of the A1, A2 and the future motorway junction. On May 28, 2010 the contract for the construction of the motorway junction between GDDKiA and the construction company Budimex was signed. The construction costs amounted to around 307.56 million zlotys. It was completed by November 30, 2011. The node is still referred to as Węzeł autostradowy Stryków or Węzeł autostradowy Stryków I in the planning and construction documents . This name was changed to Węzeł autostradowy Łódź-Północ when numerous motorway junctions in the Łódź Voivodeship were renamed on January 20, 2011 . According to GDDKiA, the renaming is intended to force progress in the construction of the motorways and expressways . In addition, the designations should be easier to understand and link for drivers who come from outside the region. The most important construction work was completed in November 2011. This included an approximately five-kilometer section of the A1 and an approximately two-kilometer section of the A2. Small jobs were carried out by May 2012, such as the application of road markings.
Current status
Since July 1, 2016, the junction can be used in all directions.
The following directions are available:
- A1 motorway northwards via Kutno , Włocławek , Toruń and Grudziądz to Gdansk
- A1 motorway in a southerly direction via Piotrków Trybunalski , Częstochowa and Gliwice to the Czech border
- A2 motorway in a westerly direction via Poznan to the German border
- A2 motorway in an easterly direction to Warsaw
future
