Uma Quic ( Uma Qui'ic , Uma Quik ) is an East Timorese suco in the administrative office of Viqueque ( municipality of Viqueque ). The place name is derived from the local language Tetum Terik . Uma means "house", ki'ik means "small".

Before the 2015 regional reform, Uma Quic had an area of ​​50.18 km². Now there are 61.01 km². The Suco is located in the south of the administrative office Viqueque on the coast of the Timor Sea . To the west are the Sucos Bibileo and Bahalarauain , to the north the Sucos Uai-Mori , Caraubalo and Uma Uain Craic and to the east the Suco Maluru . The river Cuha forms the eastern border .

The southern coastal road, one of the country's most important traffic routes, runs along the northern border. In the northeast, the suburbs of the municipal capital Viqueque extend into Uma Quic. These also include the larger Sucos settlements. These are: Lua ( Luwa ), Bahafou ( Bahafau ), Maroman , Bahabunac ( Bahabunak ), Macadean ( Makdean ), Aina Uain ( Ainauain ) and Raihun . The Viqueques airfield and a helipad for emergencies are also located here.

In the Suco there are the eight Aldeias Aidac Bein , Aina Uain , Bahabunac , Bahafou , Lua , Macadean , Maroman and Raihun .

Residents

1981 inhabitants live in the Suco (2015), of which 1017 are men and 964 women. The population density is 32.5 inhabitants / km². There are 402 households in the Suco. Over 67% of the population name Tetum Terik as their mother tongue. Almost 31% speak Makasae and a minority speak Tetum Prasa .

history

Miguel Soares , who was Liurai from Uma Quic in 1975 , was the only Liurai in the sub-district to support the APODETI , while the others stood by the UDT . The reason was that Miguel’s daughter Mariazinha was married to the APODETI General Secretary José Fernando Osório Soares . Miguel's son Pinto Soares was also an activist in the APODETI. He was one of the founding members of the party.

politics

In the 2004/2005 elections , Jaime Freira Gonzaga was elected Chefe de Suco. In the 2009 elections , Hermenegildo Rangel won .
