Uai-Mori ( Uai Mori , Uaimori , Waimori ) is an East Timorese suco in the administrative office of Viqueque ( municipality of Viqueque ).

Before the 2015 territorial reform, Uai-Mori had an area of ​​26.72 km². Now it is 79.60 km². The Suco is in the north of the administrative office of Viqueque. To the east is the Suco Caraubalo , southeast of the Suco Uma Quic and southwest and west of the Suco Bahalarauain . In the north, Uai-Mori borders on the administrative office of Ossu with its sucos Ossu de Cima and Loi-Huno . The Tuco flows along the western border of Uai-Mori .

The southern coastal road, one of the country's most important transport links, runs along the southern border. The larger towns of Uai-Mori are all in the south-east of Sucos, in close proximity to the municipal capital Viqueque , which is in Caraubalo to the east. The places in Uai-Mori are Uaibubo ( Uaibobo ), Uatulesu ( Uatulesa ), Uma-Liurai ( Umalirurai ), Me-Uai ( Meuai ), Lululae and Uma-Bo O ( Umabooh ). The Suco has a primary school, the Escola Primaria Uai-Mori .

In the Suco are the six Aldeias Lulei , Me-Uai , Uaibubo , Uatulesu , Uma-Bo O and Uma-Liurai .

Residents

1142 inhabitants (2015) live in the Suco, of which 578 are men and 564 women. The population density is 14.3 inhabitants / km². There are 242 households in the Suco. More than 41% of the population name Kairui as their mother tongue. Almost 39% speak Tetum Terik , 17% Makasae and minorities speak Tetum Prasa or Midiki .

In 1981 they were moved to a level between the highway from Viqueque to Luca and the northern part of Bibileo. The newly established place was named Kraras .

On August 8, 1983, FALINTIL units attacked the Indonesian military post in Kraras. 14 soldiers were killed. Hundreds of residents of Kraras and the neighboring hamlets fled to the forests for fear of reprisals. During the retaliation of the Indonesian military in September 1983, nearly 300 civilians died in several incidents during the Kraras massacre . After independence, a memorial was erected to commemorate the massacre in the Valley of the Widows .

In 1999 one of the collection camps for FALINTIL fighters was in Uai-Mori for demobilization.

In the 2004/2005 elections , Domingos S. Guterres was elected Chefe de Suco. In the 2009 elections , Americo Soares Lobo won .
