  • The Expressway S10 ( Pol. For, expressway S10 ') is a finished part, largely planned expressway in Poland and is partially along the major road 10 the port of Szczecin over Bydgoszcz , Toruń , Płock and Novy Dwór with Wołomin in greater Warsaw connect . Between Toruń and Wołomin it is to be run completely on a new route. The road link will cross four voivodeships over a length of 530 km.

    Planning history

Neither the expressway network map of Poland from 1945 nor that of 1946 contained a route that was to establish the connection planned with today's S10. In 1963, a line from Bydgoszcz via Toruń to Warszawa was planned for the first time, but the Szczecin - Bydgoszcz line was still missing. It was not until 1971 that a plan was found that was very similar to today's route of the S10. Five years later the network plan contained the Szczecin – Toruń route, but branched off south of today's A1 in the Włocławek area and led along today's national road 62 via Płock in the direction of Warsaw. From 1985 to 2015, the route of the S10 was planned from Stettin via Bydgoszcz, Toruń and Lipno , Skępe , Sierpc to Płońsk , where it should meet the S7 expressway (Gdansk – Warsaw). The total length was about 455 km. On October 13, 2015, a government resolution changed the course of the road so that the S10 now leads from Lipno via Płock along the national road 62 to Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki, where it crosses the S7, and continues to be extended to Wołomin to the S8 expressway . With these changes, the major city of Płock as a business location will be connected to the highway network and a large northern bypass of Warsaw from Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki (S7) via Legionowo to Wołomin (S8) will be created, which is intended to relieve the existing S8 in the urban area of Warsaw.

City limits of Szczecin - Motaniec / Kobylanka

This 6 km long section leads from the city limits of Szczecin to the Motaniec / Kobylanka junction and is equipped with two lanes, each with two lanes. This section was completed after 26 months of construction and on December 10, 2004 this line was opened to traffic. The construction costs of this section amounted to 38 million zlotys (8.8 million euros). This section is to be upgraded to an expressway after the completion of the Niedźwiedz - Zdunowo road, as this provides an alternative route for vehicles that are not permitted for expressways.

    Bypass of Kobylanka, Morzyczyn, Destinationsiewo

This 6.4 km long section runs from the Motaniec / Kobylanka junction to the Stargard -Zachód junction and is equipped with a carriageway with two lanes. This road was completed within 12 months and this route was opened on September 14, 2007, but not signposted as an expressway. Due to many accidents on this route, a rope barrier was set up between the lanes on November 17, 2014, making it impossible to drive into the opposite lane. Due to the increased traffic and the many accidents on the route, it was decided to build a second lane. The second carriageway should be completed in October 2020, which means that it will be upgraded to an expressway.

    Stargard bypass

This 13.5 km long section leads from the Stargard -Zachód junction to the Stargard-Wschód junction and is equipped with two lanes, each with two lanes. This section was built within 19 months from 2008 to 2009 and opened to traffic on December 21, 2009. The construction costs amounted to 339 million zlotys (79 million euros).

    Wyrzysk bypass

This 7.8 km long section runs from the Wyrzysk junction to the Łobżenica junction and has a two-lane carriageway. All structures are adapted so that the four-lane expansion can take place. This section was built within 19 months from 2008 to 2009 and on December 16, 2009 this section was opened to traffic. The construction costs amounted to 160 million zloty (39 million euros).

    particularities

The section between the Toruń-Południe - Toruń-Wschód junction is a shared route with the A1 motorway , but is subject to a toll. The section between Szczecin and Stargard is dedicated as state road 10 and is to be rededicated as the S10 at a later date. In the Piła area , the S10 and the S11 expressway are to run on the same route. The same is to be done with the S5 in the Bydgoszcz area . The bypass of Wyrzysk has a one- way carriageway.
