Drobin (1940–1945 Reichenfeld ) is a town and seat of an urban and rural municipality in Poland in the Masovian Voivodeship .
history
The first documented reference to today's Drobin comes from the 12th or 14th century. In 1410 the Polish King Władysław II. Jagiełło led his troops through Drobin on the way to the Battle of Tannenberg . In 1487 the place received city rights . During the second partition of Poland , Drobin was annexed to Prussia . In 1807 the newly formed Duchy of Warsaw became part of the Congress of Poland in 1815 . During the January uprising , the city was one of the centers of the uprising. After its suppression, Tsar Alexander II reduced the number of places with city rights on Polish territory and so Drobin lost its city rights in 1869. At the beginning of the Second World War , the city was occupied by the Wehrmacht in September 1939 . In 1940 the Germans destroyed the village synagogue . After the end of the war Drobin came back to Poland. Due to an administrative reform in the People's Republic of Poland , Drobin came to the newly formed Płock Voivodeship in 1975 . On July 1, 1994 Drobin was granted city rights again. After the Płock Voivodeship was dissolved in 1998, the city became part of the Masovian Voivodeship.
