  • Under construction
  • In planning
  • The Droga ekspresowa S61 ( pol. For 'expressway S61') is an expressway under construction and planned in Poland . It should branch off from the S8 expressway at Ostrów Mazowiecka , lead to the Lithuanian border and connect to the A5 there. The route will run through three voivodeships . The S61 becomes part of the European route 67 , the so-called Via Baltica .

    Planning history

Since 1993, a route has been included in the planning that corresponds to the current planning status. This planning was continued in the following years. In the network planning of 2001, 2003 and 2004 the route is no longer available. In October 2009 it was decided to resume planning the S61.

    Augustów bypass

The first section of the S61 expressway will be built as part of the Augustów bypass . In addition to the 12.8 km long section of the S61 from the Raczki junction to the Suwałki -Południe junction, this also includes a 23.3 km long new state road 8 , which branches off from the former state road 8 before Augustów and leads to the Raczki junction. In the first construction project, the new construction of Landesstraße 8 was carried out in a street cross-section of one lane and two lanes. In contrast, the S61 has two lanes, each with two lanes, with the option of adding an additional lane. The contract for these two construction projects was signed on March 11, 2011 between GDDKiA and the construction company Budimex . The construction costs amount to 659 million zlotys . A 42-month planning and construction period was contractually agreed. The building permit was on 10 December 2012 by Voivode of Podlasie granted. Construction began at the end of December 2012. The Augustów bypass was completed on November 6, 2014 after a two-month delay.
