The road leads from the city of Kaunas as a continuation of the Magistralinis kelias A8 trunk road branching off the Magistralinis kelias A1 trunk road as part of the E67 to the south via Marijampolė , where it joins the Magistralinis kelias A16 (from Vilnius ) and Magistralinis kelias A7 (towards Kaliningrad ) crosses, and west past Kalvarija to the Polish- Lithuanian border, which is 27 km north of Suwałki . On the Polish side, the Droga krajowa 8 road is its continuation.
