The road begins in the capital Vilnius and goes through Širvintos (Schirwindt) and Ukmergė , where it crosses the A6 Magistralinis kelias highway , to the town of Panevėžys . South of this city, at a clover leaf, it meets the Magistralinis kelias A17 highway, which bypasses it to the west, and the Magistralinis kelias A8 branching off to the south .
The length of the mostly motorway-like and four-lane road is around 136 km.
