  • The Droga ekspresowa S14 ( pol. For 'expressway S14') is a partly completed, mostly planned or under construction expressway in Poland . It represents the western bypass of the Łódź ring road, which connects the A2 motorway with the S8 expressway .

    Planning history

An expressway ring was already provided for Łódź in the network plan of Poland from 1939. In 1946 this plan was canceled, but the Gdańsk - Katowice line to the west of Łódź was intended. In the plans for 1963, 1971, 1976, 1985 and 1993, a western bypass to Łódź was completely absent. It was not until 1996 that a route corresponding to today's plan for the S14 appeared in the network plan. From 2001 this connection was given the name S14, which from then on was always included in the network plans.

    Stages

    • 1st stage: Róża junction - Dobroń junction (3.3 km)
Construction contract was signed on October 5th, 2011. Completion was scheduled for January 5, 2014. However, it was delayed until April 11, 2014. This section was realized as part of the S8 expressway .
    • 2nd stage: Dobroń junction - Łódź-Lublinek junction (Pabianice bypass; 9.6 km)
Construction contract was signed on June 18, 2010. Completion was originally planned for November 30, 2011. Due to construction delays on the part of the construction company, the traffic handover took place with a delay of 227 days on July 13, 2012. The construction costs amount to around 514 million zlotys .
    • 3rd stage: Łódź-Lublinek junction - Emilia junction (A2) (27.2 km)
The tender for the planning and construction of the section was originally supposed to start in October 2011. A construction period of 18 months was planned. Completion should take place in 2015. Due to a lack of funding, the contract was only signed in 2019. The opening is now scheduled to Template: future / in 2 yearstake place in early 2023 . The projected construction costs amount to 1.66 billion zlotys (equivalent to 415 million euros ).
