The powiat Pabianicki is a powiat ( district ) with 119,000 inhabitants and belongs to the Łódź Voivodeship in Poland . Its area covers 490.77 km² and consists of 63 percent arable land, v. a. in the area around Lutomiersk and Dobroń, 26 percent are forested.

The greatest boom came in the 19th century when the cotton and textile industries developed. Today there are industrial companies in the pharmaceutical , electrical , mechanical , cotton processing and food sectors . Locations are v. a. Pabianice and the neighboring Ksawerow, where the Łódź wholesale market is also located. In one of the most modern markets of this kind in Poland, products from agriculture and food production are sold. The powiat (still) suffers from severe environmental problems, sewage treatment plants are being planned or under construction within the framework of the EU treaties.
