The Powiat Tarnowski is a powiat (district) in the eastern part of the Polish Lesser Poland Voivodeship . It is surrounded by the Powiats Dąbrowa in the north, Gorlice and Nowy Sącz in the south and Brzesko in the west. In the east, the provincial border with the Subcarpathian Voivodeship runs , the tip of the land in the northwest borders on Heiligkreuz .

The powiat encloses the independent city of Tarnów with the seat of the powiat.
