Mota-Engil SGPS SA is a Portuguese construction group and market leader in Portugal in the fields of building construction , civil engineering , port operations, waste, water and logistics . The Chairman of the Board of Directors is António Mota , the CEO is Jorge Coelho . Mota-Engil ranks 45th among the largest European construction companies.

The group was founded in 1946 in the Portuguese municipality of Amarante and is still officially registered there, although its actual head office is now in Porto . Mota-Engil has another office in Oeiras near Lisbon. Mota-Engil's vision is based on a strategy of constant growth, diversification and internationalization of its activities. The company has offices in Europe, Africa and America.

Mota-Engil SGPS , a holding company, is listed in PSI 20 , the most important share index of Euronext in Lisbon . The Mota-Engil Group consists of three main business areas: Engineering and Construction, Environment and Transport, Services and Concessions. It has offices and holdings in 19 countries, including: Martifer , Ascendi and Suma. Mota-Engil is one of the top hundred European construction companies.

The Mota-Engil Central Europe SA is part of Mota-Engil Group and is based in Krakow , Poland . The company is mainly engaged as general contractor for road and bridge construction, industrial and residential construction as general contractor . The company operates in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania. In addition, Mota-Engil Central Europe SA is a manufacturer of asphalt mixes, precast bridges and all types of concrete. The company actively promotes the improvement of traffic safety, protection and improvement of environmental quality and occupational safety.

In October 2010, the Angolan state oil company Sonangol , Banco Privado Atlântico (BPA) and Mota-Engil signed a memorandum to establish Mota-Engil Angola. Sonangol and BPA will therefore have a 31 percent stake in the start-up, the rest will remain in the possession of Mota-Engil SGPS.

On January 5th, 2011 Mota-Engil Engenharia e Construção, SA received the Intranet Design Prize awarded annually by the Nielson Norman Group .
