The EDP Renováveis (German: EDP Renewables ) is a company founded in 2007, Portuguese companies in the alternative energy with a focus on wind energy and in this region the world's third largest company. The head office is in Madrid , Spain. EDP ​​is listed in PSI 20 , the most important share index of Euronext in Lisbon .

The majority shareholder of EDP Renováveis ​​is Energias de Portugal , with 78% , the largest industrial group in Portugal and one of the most important energy supply companies in Europe. In March 2007, the EDP Group took over the American wind power company Horizon Wind Energy LLC from Texas from the US investment bank Goldman Sachs Group and founded EDP Renováveis.

On the Iberian Peninsula , the company is the third largest energy operator with business interests in the generation, distribution and delivery of electricity and gas in Portugal and Spain . EDP ​​Renoáveis ​​also has a strong position in the Brazilian electricity sector and is also active in France , Belgium , Poland , Romania and the USA .
