The Navigator Company is a Portuguese group dedicated to the manufacture and marketing of paper . The company was created in 2001 from a merger of the Portucel and Soporcel companies. It owns around 120 thousand hectares of eucalyptus forest and is known worldwide for its Navigator Universal copier paper . The company has the capacity to produce high-quality paper from more than one million tons of raw material (pulp) per year. The company's shares are listed in PSI 20 .

The group of companies works completely autonomously with wood , pulp and paper and is currently the No.1 paper manufacturer in Europe and one of the largest worldwide. Its historical and commercial center is in Setúbal , with paper mills in Setúbal, Figueira da Foz and Cacia , but also with research and development and trade facilities in almost every country in Europe , America and Asia .

The Navigator Company is one of the largest manufacturers on the international market for uncoated wood-free papers for the printing industry and office use and is the largest European producer of bleached eucalyptus cellulose kraft paper (BEKP).

criticism

In April 2018, a petition the environmental protection organization "Save the Rainforest" against plans of the company including unique addresses for timber industry in Mozambique, where eucalyptus plantations created for a pulp mill and should be to cut down to 237,000 hectares of forest, miombo -Ökosysteme.
