The powiat Strzelecki is a powiat (district) in the Polish Opole Voivodeship . The powiat has about 75,000 inhabitants and an area of 744 km². The seat is in the town of Strzelce Opolskie (Groß Strehlitz) .

The powiat comprises seven parishes, including five urban-and-rural parishes and two rural parishes .

The communities Colonnowska , Himmelwitz , Leschnitz , Stubendorf and Ujest have been officially bilingual since 2006, as the German population in these communities makes up over 20%.

In 1975 all administrative districts in Poland were dissolved and instead of the administrative district administration was transferred to the municipalities.
On January 1, 1999, after the administrative reform, the Powiat Strzelecki was restored with two rural communities and five urban and rural communities. Strzelce Opolskie became the seat of the district.

21% of the district's population (17,155 people) stated that they were German in the 2002 census.
In the 2011 census, a number of 22,317 people (29.0%) with German nationality was calculated. This means that the Powiat Strzelecki has the highest number of German population at district level in Poland. 22,317 people (29.0%) with Silesian nationality were counted. Multiple answers were possible in 2011.

The district administration is headed by a starost . Currently this is Józef Swaczyna, who belongs to the German minority.
District council
The district council consists of 19 members who are elected by the population. The 2018 elections brought the following results:
- Election committee German minority 38.1% of the vote, 9 seats
- Koalicja Obywatelska (KO) 24.5% of the vote, 6 seats
- Strzelce-Land electoral committee 20.4% of the vote, 3 seats
- Prawo i Sprawiedliwość (PiS) 13.3% of the votes, 1 seat
- Sojusz Lewicy Demokratycznej (SLD) / Lewica Razem (LR) 3.7% of the vote, 1 seat

The Powiat Strzelecki maintains a partnership with the Soest district in North Rhine-Westphalia .
coat of arms
The coat of arms shows in the left column (heraldic right) half a golden Upper Silesian eagle on a blue background and in the right column (heraldic left) a hop branch with three hop umbels and two leaves.
flag
The flag consists of three vertical stripes in blue, gold and green. In the upper half of the golden stripe there are seven blue stars arranged as a circle. The seven stars stand for the seven municipalities of the district.
