Wojnicz is a town in the powiat Tarnowski in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship , Poland . It is the seat of the town-and-country municipality of the same name with around 13,500 inhabitants.

Wojnicz is located 65 km east of Kraków and 12 km southeast of Tarnów .
Droga krajowa 94 and Droga wojewódzka 975 run through the city .
history
Wojnicz was first mentioned in a document in 1217. In 1278 the place was already listed as a city in documents. During the Second Northern War , a Polish-Swedish battle took place near Wojnicz in October 1655. When Poland was first partitioned , the city came under Austrian rule. In 1933 the villages of Ratnawy and Zamoście were incorporated. The city lost its town charter with effect from January 1935 , this was recognized again on January 1, 2007 Wojnicz, in the meantime Wojnicz was the seat of a Gromada and a Gmina. In 1947 a library was set up in Wojnicz and in 1973 the House of Culture.
From 1975 to 1998 the village belonged to the Tarnów Voivodeship .
Attractions
The wooden church of Saint Leonardo from the 17th century is a sight . The city's coat of arms shows the martyrdom of St. Lawrence .
