Pastwiska (formerly also Pastwisko , Pastwiska Dolne i Górne , German Pastwisk ) is a district of Cieszyn in the powiat Cieszyński of the Silesian Voivodeship in Poland .

geography

Pastwiska is located in the Silesian Foothills ( Pogórze Śląskie ) , about three kilometers east of the city center.

Before the incorporation, the village had an area of ​​about 202 hectares . Neighboring towns: Kalembice in the north, Bobrek in the east, Cieszyn (Liburnia) in the south, Boguszowice in the west.

history

The place was first mentioned in 1565 as the ducal Vorwerk Pastwysky . The name is the Polish name for willow .

Politically, the village originally belonged to the Duchy of Teschen , the feudal rule of the Kingdom of Bohemia in the Habsburg Monarchy .

After the abolition of patrimonial it formed a municipality in Austrian Silesia , Teschen district and judicial district Teschen from 1850 . In 1900 Pastwiska (excluding Kalembice and Boguszowice) had 60 houses with 745 inhabitants, of which 714 (95.8%) Polish-speaking, 17 (2.3%) German-speaking, 4 (0.5%) Czech-speaking, 560 (75.2%) %) Roman Catholic, 164 (22%) Protestant, 21 (2.8%) Israelite. In 1910 there were 92 houses with 887 inhabitants, of which 870 (98.1%) Polish-speaking, 14 (1.6%) German-speaking, 1 Czech-speaking, 676 (76.2%) Roman Catholic, 203 (22.9%) Protestant .8 (0.9%) Israelite.

In 1920, after the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy and the end of the Polish-Czechoslovak border war , Pastwiska became part of Poland. This was only interrupted by the occupation of Poland by the Wehrmacht in World War II .

Pastwiska was incorporated in 1973 with Gułdowy as the district of Cieszyns.
