coat of arms
Blazon : "In silver a blue diagonal wave bar, accompanied above by a green oak branch, below by an inwardly turned, inclined, overturned red heather scythe and a slanted red peat spade."
The municipal area of Neuberend is diversely structured by old oak stocks, which are represented by the oak branch in the coat of arms approved in 1986, and by numerous smaller watercourses and lakes. For the latter, the wavy bar is in the coat of arms. The village is a relatively young settlement that was created in the vicinity of the older village of Berend. In the middle of the 18th century, 21 colonist places were assigned to the Berender Heide and combined to form the village of Neuberend. The heathland was gradually reclaimed by the colonists. The heather scythe in the coat of arms indicates the hard work of the settlers in the initial phase of the “Berender Heide” colony (Neuberend), as does the peat spade to the laborious peat cutting in the moor.
