Taarstedt ( Danish : Torsted ) is a municipality in the Schleswig-Flensburg district in Schleswig-Holstein .
Geography and traffic
Taarstedt is located about 10 km northeast of Schleswig on the Loiter Au . Taarstedt includes the districts of Scholderup (Danish Skolderup ), Westerakeby ( Ågeby ) and Kiusballig ( Kjusballe ) as well as residential areas such as Düneberg ( Dynebjerg ), Königstoft ( Kongstoft ), Kulk (derived from Kolk ), Pressbroe ( Prisbro ), Schüby ( Skovby ) , Stockbrück ( Stokbro ), Süderholz ( Sønderskov ) and Waldhoe. For the place Akeby ( Ågeby ) the name Westerakeby became common in order to be able to distinguish it from an Akeby located further east in the municipality of Boren . The federal highway 201 runs northwest from Schleswig to Kappeln. In the north, the municipality with Akebyer wood ( Ågeby Skov ) has a 25 km large farm forest , which merges into the Kiuser enclosure in the neighboring municipality of Ulsnis.
history
The place name is documented in writing in 1363 and probably originally referred to the place (cult place) of the Nordic god Thor or a nickname that was formed with the name of the god. The place name is correspondingly from Thor (or nickname Thorir) and the old Danish term for establishment or dwelling ( Stath , mdän. Stej , mndt. Stede , ndän. Sted ) together.
The St-Annen-Kirche , built around 1250, is a stone church with a wooden bell tower .
