The St. Anne's Church in Taarstedt is a Romanesque stone church from the middle of the 12th century. It is said to have been built near an earlier pagan place of worship.

Exterior

The church is a hall church with a rectangular floor plan and also a rectangular choir . A wooden bell tower is built on the west side , which bears three bells of undetermined origin, one of which is believed to be very old due to its beehive shape . The St. Anne's Church is registered as an architectural monument in the register of registered cultural monuments of the state of Schleswig-Holstein .

The interior of the church, like the exterior with the white plaster, is very simple. A granite baptismal font from the 12th century and the altar from 1772 with oil paintings painted on wood define the choir room. At the top of the altar is a lecture cross from the beginning of the 16th century . The communion bench is in front of the altar . A medieval side altar is attached to the north wall of the choir, which is very rare in Schleswig-Holstein . The figures in the altar shrine are in the middle Anna herself , from which the church name is derived, as well as Saint Dionysius and another bishop.

At the transition between the nave and the choir there is a simple pulpit from the 18th century, on the north wall a large crucifix from the end of the 15th century. The pictures of the apostles on the organ gallery also date from the 18th century. Two small, carved wooden figures on the western gable wall as well as the baptismal bowl from 1680 and altar candlesticks from 1650 made of brass are considered special features of Taarstedt Church. The latter are no longer kept in the church for fear of metal theft .

Two forged chandeliers from the Taarstedter Church from the Gothic period are exhibited today in the State Museum for Art and Cultural History in Schleswig at Gottorf Castle .
