About this picture

Grödersby ( Danish : Grødersby , also Grødesby ) is a municipality in the Schleswig-Flensburg district in Schleswig-Holstein . The current municipal area was created during the municipal reform in 1971.

geography

The southern Schleswig municipality of Grödersby is located in fishing on Grödersbyer Noor on the Schlei . The Grödersbyer Au flows through the municipality in a cut up to 10 m deep.

Fegetasch (Danish Fegetask ), Friedenshöh, Grödersby-Bahnhof, Grödersby-Hof, Grödersbyholz, Groß-Grödersby, Klein-Grödersby, Habertwedt ( Habertved ), Königstein ( Kongstenen ), Marienhof, Moos, Mühlenholz, Neuwerk, Trankier and Westerlücken ( Vesterløkke ) are in the municipality.

history

The place name is made up of the Danish words grøde and by and means settlement near pastureland .

Around 1230, compared to the present, Grödersby was of far greater importance due to its geographical extent - from Königstein to Pageroe. The then Grödersby Castle was therefore of great strategic importance. The old Burgplatz can still be recognized by its surrounding moat. (The Burgplatz is not open to the public). Later the place went to the nobility. The following noble families were named as owners: von Spliet, von Pogwisch and von Sehestedt. Grödersby was first mentioned in old records in 1231.

In 1406 Grödersby was then the Danish ruler Margaret I. transmitted. She let the castle burn down that same year. The property belonging to Grödersby Castle and the associated farms, which were previously owned by the noble family v. Pogwisch were transferred to the cathedral monastery of Schleswig. With this foundation she bought the goodwill of the clergy.

The cathedral church of Schleswig combined these possessions in a bailiwick. From 1406 to 1777 the village belonged to the Bailiwick of Grödersby. The bailiwick was dissolved in 1777, Grödersby was assigned to the Schliesharde.

In 1837 the village had thirteen farms and six cottages.

In 1871 the village of Grödersby with the districts Habertwedt, Klein-Grödersby, Marienhof, Königstein, Westerlücken, Grödersby train station and Fegetasch became the municipality of Grödersby, with 213 inhabitants and 27 residential buildings.

The Grödersbyer Noor was once known for fishing and was equipped with a corresponding number of herring fences and eel weirs. Arnis , which had been on an island for a long time , could be reached via a wading point and later a dam .

coat of arms

Blazon : "Above a blue-silver corrugated foot in green, a golden ear of grain with awning accompanied on the right by a left-turning, on the left by a triangular, billowing silver sail."

Historical reason: The municipality of Grödersby is located in the fishing natural area on the banks of the Schlei. The silver wavy threads on a blue background shown in the base of the shield are intended to indicate the location on the loop. The place name is derived from Danish. bøl. dt.- büll and dan. grøde = "settlement by the meadow - near the pastureland". The green background refers to the naming. In the village, which was once characterized by agriculture, tourism is becoming increasingly important due to its charming landscape on the banks of the Schlei. The central ear of corn, which is arranged between two abstract sails, is supposed to symbolize this development.

economy

The municipal area is predominantly agricultural, but there are also many businesses that are primarily active in the field of sailing equipment. Tourism is also an important source of income.
