Lottorf ( Danish : Lottorp ) is a municipality on the edge of the Hüttener Mountains in the Schleswig-Flensburg district in Schleswig-Holstein .
Geography and traffic
Lottorf is about 15 km south of Schleswig between the federal highway 77 and the federal highway 7 to Rendsburg .
history
The place name is documented for the first time in 1649 and means village of Loppa (from old Danish thorp , mnd. Dorp , nnd. Dbody , cf. altn. Loptr for the god Loki ). The place name is similar to Lottrup in Vejle Amt in Denmark and Loppetorp in Blekinge, formerly Danish, now in southern Sweden .
During the First Schleswig War, on November 24, 1850, a battle between Danish and German-Schleswig-Holstein troop units took place near Lottorf.
