Klein Rheide ( Low German : Lütt Rei , Danish : Lille Rejde ) is a municipality west of the Ochsenweg in the Schleswig-Flensburg district in Schleswig-Holstein . Brütje, expansion 7 and Mielberg are in the municipality.

Geography and traffic

Klein Rheide is located about 18 km southwest of Schleswig in a rural area. The federal highway 77 and the federal highway 7 run from Schleswig to Rendsburg to the east of the municipality . Part of the Schleswig Air Base is located in the municipality.

history

The place was first mentioned in 1337 as "parvo Reyde", which possibly refers to the original name of the Rheider Au or from a landing stage on the way from Hollingstedt an der Treene to Haithabu an der Schlei . The origin of the place name is not proven.

In the district of Friedrichsheide there was a colonist settlement . The Jagel airfield, which was used by the military, was created in its place .

politics

Community representation

Of the nine seats in the municipal council, the KWG has had all seats since the 2008 local elections. In the local elections on May 26, 2013, the turnout was 57.2 percent. The distribution of seats did not change.

mayor

Werner Kramer (KWG) was elected mayor for the 2013–2018 election period. He succeeded Johann Heinrich Köpke.

In the center of the coat of arms is a lapwing , which refers to the numerous wetlands in the municipality. The sheaf next to it indicates the agricultural character of the place. The wavy strip stands for the Rheider Au .

For the 2017 federal election , 72.2% of the 270 eligible voters took part in the election.

For the 2019 European elections , 56.3 of the 272 eligible voters took part in the election.

economy

The community is predominantly agricultural.

Personalities

In 1766 the later teacher and discoverer of the cowpox vaccination Peter Plett (1766-1823) was born in Klein Rheide.
