Saustrup ( Danish : Savstrup ) is a municipality in the Schleswig-Flensburg district in Schleswig-Holstein . The municipalities include Bünderies ( Bynderis ), Flarup and Schwanholm ( Svanholm ). as well as the two contiguous forest areas Flarupholz ( Flarup Skov ) and the Saustrup enclosure.

history

The place name is documented in writing for the first time in 144. The name is composed of old Danish. thorp and saxi and means about village of Saxi (cf. -trup ). Saxi is a nickname that can be traced back to the tribal name Sachse as well as to knife, sword . The consonant cluster -ks- is Angel Danish / Sønderjysk to -ws- become. The name Bünderies is first mentioned in writing in 1478 and is composed of Danish. bonde for Bauer or the nickname Bunde and -ris for Busch, Kratt. Flarup was first mentioned in 1349 and means village of Flati , an epithet that comes from Danish. flad for flat goes back. Schwanholm was first mentioned in 1804/05 and means elevation where swans are to Danish. svane (ndt. swån, swoon ) and -holm .

In the Middle Ages there were some fortified courtyards in today's municipality, for example Timmerholm was mentioned around 1400. The Flarupgaard estate is still in Saustrup today.

Before the German-Danish War in 1864, the place belonged to the parish Norderbrarup in the Struxdorfharde (Schleswig Office) in the Duchy of Schleswig (also: Sønderjylland ).

Of the nine seats in the municipal council, the FWG community of voters has five seats since the 2013 local elections and the KWS community of voters four.

The community is predominantly agricultural.
