Geography and traffic

Klein Bennebek is a street village in the Eider-Treene-Sorge lowland . It is located about 25 km south of Schleswig and 37 km northwest of Rendsburg in a rural area. The federal highway 77 and the federal highway 7 , which connect the two cities, run east of the municipality .

history

The place Bennebek, whose name is derived from the name of a brook flowing into the Sorge, was first mentioned in 1340 as Bennebeke . A distinction was first made between Alt Bennebek and Klein Bennebek in 1542.

Klein Bennebek belonged to the Friedrichswiese community until it was dissolved on April 1, 1938. Klein Bennebek was one of the three successor communities.

Of the nine seats in the municipal council, the constituency AWG has five seats since the 2008 local elections and the constituency FWG four.

coat of arms

Blazon : "In gold, a red farmhouse (front view) between two blue wavy bars, accompanied on both sides by an upright green oak leaf."

The corrugated beams with the farmhouse in between symbolize the place name and, at the same time, the history of the place, "which was founded within the Bek" (creeks around it). The two oak leaves represent the extensive oak forests that still characterize the landscape around the town today.

economy

The community is predominantly agricultural.
