Location of the community Großsolt in the Schleswig-Flensburg district | ||
Großsolt ( Danish Store Solt ) is a municipality in the Schleswig-Flensburg district in Schleswig-Holstein .
geography
The municipality of Großsolt is located around ten kilometers south of Flensburg and consists of the districts or villages Großsoltholz ( Store Soltskov ), Großsoltwesterholz, Großsoltbrück ( Store Soltbro ), Bistoft, Estrup , Kollerup , Mühlenbrück ( Møllebro ) and Großsolt itself.
Furthermore, there are still various old residential areas , which today are assigned to the above districts: Bistoftfeld ( Bistoftmark ), Bistoftholz ( Bistoftskov ), Bregengaard ( Bregnegaard ), Recreation, Ernsthof, Estrupfeld ( Estrupmark ), Friesheck ( Frisled ), Holstein, Kloster, Kollerupfeld ( Kollerupmark ), Kollerupholz ( Kollerupskov ), Rugenkanzel and Süderballig ( Sønderballe ).
The Bondenau and Kielstau, from which the Treene emerges further west , flow through the community from east to west and flow into the Treßsee .
The landscape is hilly and consists mostly of Weichselian moraines and inland Sandern . Großsolt counts fishing in the landscape .
history
Großsolt was first mentioned in 1352. The name arose from the original name of today's eastern Treßseeniederung . The shore of the lake was close to the place until the early modern times . The ending "-solt" comes from "sulz" for swamp, swampy terrain (cf. adän. Sol , nndt. Såhl, Soll ). A derivative in the meaning of "salt", as used in some Schleswig Flurnamen occurs and may indicate as such on an earlier name of Bondenau, however, seems unlikely.
Until the 20th century people fished in Großsolt. Due to the river regulation of the Kielstau and Bondenau in 1925 and the land consolidation in the 1960s and 1970s, the Treßsee, which was originally more than one hundred hectares in size, continued to silt up. The salmon became extinct and fishing rights, once a guarantee of prosperity, became meaningless.
At the end of the Second World War , in May 1945, the last Reich government under Karl Dönitz settled in Flensburg - Mürwik . Field Marshal General Ernst Busch , who had been appointed Commander in Chief Northwest , apparently set up his headquarters at the same time in Kollerup ( Lage ), ten kilometers away , on the farm of the Christiansen family. In May 1945 Heinrich Himmler and his entourage stayed in Kollerup for a short time . At the same time, SS General Curt von Gottberg appeared in Kollerup. Heinrich Himmler came to the Flensburg area via the so-called Rattenlinie Nord in order to participate in the Reich government in the special area of Mürwik . Since he was denied participation, he fled further south. Ultimately, he died on May 23, 1945 in Lüneburg in British captivity by suicide .
politics
Community representation
Of the 13 seats in the municipal council has Wählergemeinschaft KWG since the municipal election in 2013 seven seats, the CDU six.
coat of arms
Blazon : "In green, a golden house brand in the form of an overturned Latin lattice cross consisting of six diamonds , of which the one that forms the intersection is enlarged."
The Großsolter coat of arms contains jewelry from the Viking Age - a Latin lattice cross. The six yellow diamonds on a green background symbolize the six formerly independent communities.
Public facilities
Educational institutions
The first school building in Großsolt was built in 1757 and used until around 1790. Over the centuries the Großsolt school has changed its location several times. It has been located not far from the church since 1971.
The primary school Großsolt is attended by children and young people from the communities Großsolt and Freienwill, the main school part expired in 2011.
Leisure and sports facilities
The nearby Holmark Lake is a popular meeting place in summer as an outdoor pool under the supervision of the DLRG . Sports field, sports hall and tennis courts are available for recreational activities. The lively club life with sports club, country women, men's choir , volunteer fire brigade , western anglers riding club and local culture ring characterizes the togetherness in the village.
Voluntary fire brigades
The community has three volunteer fire brigades, namely that of Bistoft-Mühlenbrück, that of Estrup-Kollerup and that of Großsolt himself.
Culture and sights
The rural character has been preserved in the townscape with over twenty businesses. Particularly stately agricultural properties with large trees and avenues can be found in Estrup and Kollerup in particular. "Holidays on the farm" are offered on many of the community's farms or they are presented as riding stables.
The list of cultural monuments in Großsolt includes the cultural monuments entered in the list of monuments of Schleswig-Holstein.
Buildings
The Großsolter Church was thoroughly restored in 1970. It is a Romanesque field stone building from the late 12th century with a retracted choir. The north and south portals are built with granite blocks. The church interior is accessed through the hall of the church tower, which was only built in 1920. There are still some gravestones from the 17th and 18th centuries in the cemetery.
