Lindewitt ( Danish : Lindved ) is a municipality in the Schleswig-Flensburg district in Schleswig-Holstein .
geography
Lindewitt is located in a wooded landscape between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea in northern Schleswig-Holstein. The next larger city is Flensburg .
The municipal area includes the villages Haselundsiek, Kleinwiehe ( Lille Vi ), Linnau ( Lindaa ), Lüngerau ( Lyngvrå ), Riesbriek ( Risbrig ), Seeland and Sillerup.
history
The municipality has been populated since the Neolithic Age. The name of the place is derived from the fact that the area is quite wooded. The Danish lind for linden tree and the Danish witt for forest translates into linden forest.
Gut Lindewitt existed around 1500, the manor house was built around 1780. The noble Lindewitt estate was parceled out in 1796 . Nowadays the estate is no longer there. - The legend of Lindewitt Castle still testifies to this.
On March 24, 1974, the communities of Kleinwiehe, Lindewitt-Lüngerau, Linnau, Riesbriek and Sillerup , which had previously belonged to the Flensburg-Land district, were merged to form the new community of Lindewitt. The circle Flensburg-country was simultaneously with the district of Schleswig for Schleswig-Flensburg summarized.
From 1974 to 1993 the primary and secondary school “Am Wald” was the alternative seat of the Schleswig-Holstein state government (Lindewitt / Bunker Ludwig office). A second government bunker was located south of Flensburg near Sankelmark at the Sankelmark Academy Center . The Ludwig bunker can now be visited.

The community is predominantly agricultural. There are also a large number of wind turbines. In 1972 the Grossenwiehe-Lindewitt trade and industry association was founded. State road 14 runs from federal road 199 in Wallsbüll via Lindewitt-Kleinwiehe to federal road 200 in Wanderup -Kragstedt.

Legend of Lindewitt Castle
In a legend it is said that once at midnight in the knight's hall of Lindewitt Castle, the clang of battle and the clang of weapons was heard. Another spirit is said to have been up to mischief in other rooms. According to legend, at some point the ghosts were finally banned in a large cauldron and buried.
Saga of Nis Puk from Lindewitt-Hof
Once the intended Puk from Lindwitt-Hof have been sitting on the dog house and have gotten with the legs, the dogs below. Howling and barking, they are said to have tried to grab little Nis . The farm servant saw this, wanted to have fun and pushed the puk down from the hut. The Nis Puk cried out loudly and vowed to take revenge. One day the Nis Puk untied the two black horses and chased them in the direction of the inn, where the servant was drinking. He immediately noticed the commotion outside, hurried out, grabbed the two horses and tried to bring them back to the stable. He got on one of the horses and rode off. But on the way he fell asleep. The next morning he woke up puzzled on two black peat heaps in Oxlundmoor (near Großenwiehe ).
In this legend the terms Nis, Puk and Nis Puk are used synonymously.
Sports
Sport is offered at TSV Lindewitt. In addition to football, handball and badminton, fringe sports such as archery and fistball are also played .
