Culture and sights
The list of cultural monuments in Medelby includes the cultural monuments entered in the list of monuments of Schleswig-Holstein.
The community's cultural monument is essentially the church with its churchyard.
A legend reports that this church was once built by a giant, while at the same time another giant also built a church in Grossenwiehe . Since they only had one hammer to cut the stones, they threw the hammer to each other when needed. In one of the throws they damaged the tower of the Wallsbüller Church, which is why it now only has a low, separate bell tower. - In addition, another giant, namely the one from Handewitt , is said to have tried to hit the church of Medelby with a stone thrown by him, but missed it. The stone should still be seen in Medelby. - In the well-known legend about the origin of the ox islands , which are not far from Flensburg, the next larger city, a giant also plays an important role.
On the northern edge of the municipality is the 23 hectare nature reserve "Eichenkratt", which was designated in 1990.
