location

The Balm farm is located on the Balm street, which begins southeast of the village of Munkbrarups and from there leads north to Rüde . Kragholm lies southeast of Balm . In the west of the Balm area, the Munkbrarupau (cf. Schwennau ) flows roughly parallel to the Balm street .

history

The thatched main building of the Balm farm was built in 1844 as a poor house. In 1902, however, the “poor workhouse in Balm” was converted into a farmer's place and privatized. On the west side of the building there is an angled barn extension. The main building of the courtyard was placed under a preservation order as a historically relevant building that shaped the cultural landscape .

The owners of today's Balm farm maintain old handicrafts . With a rocking lathe from the farm, nature educator Dag Wixforth occasionally brings children and young people closer to woodturning at Schleswig-Holstein public festivals .
