Bockholmwik ( Danish Bogholmvig , partly also Bokholmvig ) is a district of the municipality Munkbrarup in the Schleswig-Flensburg district in Schleswig-Holstein .

In Bockholmwik there is a campsite, a leisure center and a marina owned by the local Förde Yacht Club.

location

Bockholmwik is located on a bay in the Flensburg Outer Fjord , embedded between the two valleys of Iskierdammau and Königsau. The place Munkbrarup is about three kilometers away. The city of Flensburg ( Mürwik district ) is located about ten kilometers to the southwest, Glücksburg Castle in the middle of Glücksburg about five kilometers to the west. The Danish bank on the opposite side of the fjord is about four kilometers away.

history

The establishment of the place after 1700 is connected with a brick factory and several cottages . The place name is first documented in writing in 1743. He is connected to the nearby Bockholm and goes to Danish. buk (Bock, cf. altnord. bokkr ), dan. / ndt. holm as well as dan. vig (bay) back. The meaning would be Bockholm Bay . Between 1722 and 1900 there was a brickworks on site, another existed from 1730 to around 1860. In 1779 the place came to Munkbrarupharde . After the German-Danish War , the place, like all of Schleswig-Holstein (cf. Province of Schleswig-Holstein ), became part of Prussia and in 1871 initially became part of the municipality of Bockholm. In 1928 the place came to the municipality of Rüde and in 1970 finally to the municipality of Munkbrarup .

Personalities

  • Hans Holtorf (1899–1984), German painter, spent much of his life in a house he built in Bockholmwik.
