Kurt Baebi (born October 25, 1943 in Lucerne , Switzerland ) is a Swiss keyboardist, pianist and composer.

Life

Kurt Baebi studied piano, notation and composition at the Lucerne Jazz School. In 1973 he founded the band Shivananda in Zurich , which was very well known in the jazz rock scene in Europe until 1984 due to extensive tours, four albums and numerous international festival and television appearances. Baebi was also active in the studio scene as a keyboard player, sound designer and keyboard programmer (e.g. for Giorgio Moroder , Joe Zawinul , Strange Ways , Udo Jürgens , Europe , Phil Carmen and Saga ).

From 1990 to 2012 Kurt Baebi produced ten solo albums under his own name as a composer, arranger and musician for his CSST Productions label . These electronic albums are characterized by simple song structures with complex and varied compositions with jazzy, pop, Far Eastern and African influences.

As a producer, guest musician, sound designer or keyboard technician, he has worked in various TV, film and live productions etc. a. for Giorgio Moroder, Phil Carmen , Steve Gadd , Andreas Vollenweider , Curt Cress , Eddie Harris , Trilok Gurtu , Joe Zawinul , Europe or Stanley Clarke with. Among other things, he composed the soundtrack for the opening film of the Ataturk Dam in 1992.
