Ingo York (* 1961 ) is a German musician, composer and lyricist who also appears as a guest and accompanying musician . He plays electric guitar , bass and acoustic guitar . In the 1980s he was bassist for the well-known GDR rock groups Rockhaus and Pankow under his previous name Ingo Griese .

Holdings

Griese was a member of a school band that merged with another school band in early 1979 and then renamed itself Rockhaus . In collaboration with Katherina Koch, he was responsible for the lyrics for various songs by Rockhaus, which were among the most popular rock bands in the GDR in the 1980s. In 1986 he left Rockhaus and played for Pankow from 1987 to 1990.

After the fall of the Berlin Wall , he worked as a studio bassist in San Francisco, USA, for more than ten years . He played with the Sam Andrew Band and toured with Neil Diamond and Liza Minnelli .

Ingo York has been working as a musician and composer with Ulla Meinecke since 2001 . In 2005/2006 he accompanied Ulla Meinecke during her musical readings of her book on stage and played bass guitar in the Ulla Meinecke Band. In 2009 the premiere of the Rainer Kirchmann Trio took place in the theater cellar of the Stadttheater Luckenwalde. The trio includes Rainer Kirchmann on piano , Ingo York on bass guitar and Jan Maihorn on guitar. In 2009 he played guitar at the Richard Wester show dedicated lovesongs and accompanied Hans Werner Olm on his Sing dein Ding tour in 2010 .

On Jennifer Rush's CD Now Is the Hour (2010), York co-interprets the majority of the songs. He also worked as a studio musician and played on albums by DSDS winner Thomas Godoj as well as Michelle Hunziker , Roberta Donnay and Nevio .

In 2010 the world premiere of the play Der Schlagerexorzist by Dietmar Löffler took place in the Schlossparktheater in Berlin. In the parody of the machinations of the record industry, he embodies the musician "Carlos". In 2011, the premiere of the play Alexandra - Glück und Verfassnis einer Star by Michael Kunze , in which York was a musician , also took place at the Schlossparktheater in Berlin .

In 2010 the DVD edition Ost-Rock Klassik appeared , on which various " Eastern bands" appear together with the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg . On this live DVD, recorded on September 11, 2010 in the Berlin Kindl-Bühne Wuhlheide , Rockhaus with Mich zu liebe, Bleib cool and ILD and Pankow with boredom, Inge Pawelczik and Wetten du woll are represented. York plays the bass in both bands. In the booklet , Ingo York is mentioned as a co-composer of the Rockhaus titles under his former name Ingo Griese .

York was involved in the recording of the 2011 album Neuer Tag in Pankow by Pankow as a guest musician and with a title (How far can you go) as a composer and lyricist. On the tour that followed at the end of 2011 on the occasion of the band's 30th anniversary, he was also on stage as a guest musician.
