The DEAG German Entertainment Aktiengesellschaft , based in Berlin , is a European concert promoter with several subsidiaries in Germany, England and Switzerland. It organizes concerts with German-language and international rock and pop music , hits , folk music and classical music . The group of companies also publishes sound carriers under the independent label DEAG Music .

history

The company was founded in 1978 under the name Concert Concept by Jochen Zanke (1947-2013) and today's CEO Peter Schwenkow . Since September 14, 1998 it has been listed as Deutsche Entertainment AG on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

In 2002 the musical business, bundled in the subsidiary Stella Entertainment AG , was separated, so that the sales share of the theater division fell from 37% to 6%. In 2002 and 2003, this led to considerable restructuring costs and unscheduled depreciation. In 2002, the bankruptcy of the online platform Qivive GmbH , which emerged from START Ticket GmbH , was founded at the end of 1999 by the Axel Springer Verlag , the concert promoter Deutsche Entertainment AG (Deag) and the Lufthansa subsidiary .

In July 2009 Sony Music Entertainment took a 49% stake in the European classical music business of Deutsche Entertainment AG. Through this joint venture , the classical music business area was expanded in Europe and the aim was to expand it worldwide with the support of a large entertainment group. In August 2010, the violinist and long-time DEAG partner David Garrett acquired 3% of DEAG shares. DEAG has been involved in Seefestspiele Berlin GmbH since December 2010 .

In April 2012 the company announced the founding of Verescon AG (the name stands for Venue Research Consulting ) together with the Anschutz Entertainment Group . Verescon's activities focus on arcades, their owners and operators. The focus is on advice and support during operation in the areas of content, repositioning, cost optimization and marketing.

In November 2014, the company started its own sales system for tickets in German-speaking countries with the online ticket portal myticket.de. Since 2015, Rockavaria , Rock in Vienna and Rock im Revier have been trying to gain a foothold on the festival market, which initially led to severe losses (2015: EUR -1.31 per share). In November 2018, the company announced the increase in DEAG's stake to 15.65% by Christian Angermayer's Apeiron Investment Group Ltd.
