from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Peter Ludolf Herbert Schwenkow (born March 23, 1954 in Hamburg ) is a German concert organizer, cultural manager, politician ( CDU ) and university professor.

Career as an entrepreneur

After graduating from Albert-Schweitzer-Gymnasium in Hamburg in 1975, Schwenkow worked as a tour director for Mike Krüger , The Dubliners and Hanns Dieter Hüsch . While studying advertising and communication at the Berlin University of the Arts , he worked for the Jänicke concert agency . For the concert concept , which he and Jochen Zanke († 2013) founded in 1978 , they acquired the exclusive rights of use for the Berlin Waldbühne , which they also leased in 1981. There they organized open-air concerts by the Berlin Philharmonic . On March 23, 1994, on his 40th birthday, Schwenkow started the Berlin soft pop radio station JFK 98.2 in the presence of Eberhard Diepgen . DEAG Deutsche Entertainment , which he founded in 1995, went public in 1998. In 2000 he took over the musical organizer Stella , which however turned out to be an unfortunate move and plunged DEAG into a crisis. After successfully implementing restructuring measures, DEAG has been on solid feet again since 2004 and has significantly expanded its field of business by founding its own label DEAG Music and joint ventures with the Anschutz Entertainment Group and the ticket sales system Ticketmaster, as well as through further acquisitions. In 2007, Schwenkow organized the first and only concert with Barbra Streisand in Germany in the Berlin Waldbühne. DEAG is also active in Switzerland and England.

politics

In the elections for the Berlin House of Representatives in September 2006, Schwenkow stood for the CDU against the Governing Mayor of Berlin, Klaus Wowereit , in the same constituency of Grunewald-Halensee , located in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf , and narrowly lost. However, he was elected as the top candidate on the district list in the House of Representatives and became deputy chairman of the culture committee. At the end of the electoral term in 2011, Schwenkow left the House of Representatives.

In 2006/2007, Schwenkow was a member of the CDU German CDU's policy committee.
