jfk 98.2

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

jfk 98,2 was a Berlin private radio named after John F. Kennedy , who became famous in the city for his saying " I am a Berliner ". jfk 98,2 was initiated under the working title Radio Flamingo by the Berlin impresario Peter Schwenkow and his company Radio Concept (main shareholder Peter Schwenkow with 53 percent, managing director Thomas Dittrich; other shareholders: Michael Poetter and the restaurant owner Roland Mary ).

Start phase

From March 23, 1994, the fortieth birthday of Schwenkows, jfk 98,2 broadcast mainly soft pop as well as blues, swing, funk and other American music styles. The media authority of Berlin-Brandenburg (MABB) had told the radio station in licensing, 43 Infolines and comprehensive information of culture, business and politics to send.

Transmission technology and, at times, the delivery of news were provided by the radio station Hundert, 6 under Georg Gafron . It was broadcast from the Trigon building in Berlin-Tiergarten via the transmitter masts on the Berlin TV tower and from Scholzplatz. The start of broadcasting was accompanied by an ambitious startup phase (starting motto: “Radio for the educated” with a massive poster and promotional advertising campaign throughout Berlin) in Berlin-Zehlendorf .

Decline

After disputes with the Kennedy family over naming rights and bad media data , the word and culture share was first massively reduced and a relaunch was attempted in September 1995 with renaming to 98.2 Soft Hit Radio .

After a sale in November 1995 to Georg Gafrons Hundert, 6 Medien GmbH , Schwenkow gave the frequency back to MABB at the suggestion of MABB with Gafrons approval. After the employees were dismissed in May 1996 due to unexpected non-re-issuance of the broadcasting license, operations were discontinued after a temporary, license-free continued operation by Hundert, 6 on the frequency 98.2 MHz. The private radio station Radio Paradiso broadcasts on the frequency today .

Georg Gafron put the loss of investment funds in the amount of 7 to 10 million DM and made massive accusations against the MABB. jfk 98.2 is said to have been warned several times by the MABB because of a reduction in the cultural share contrary to the license.

The concept of news delivery was then practiced by the broadcaster Hundert, 6 in collaboration with Radio Paradiso. In addition to the supplier of hourly news from Hundert, 6, jfk 98.2 also used the German-language news delivery service from Voice of America , the technical transmission quality of which was audibly reduced.
