Seefestspiele Berlin

The Seefestspiele Berlin premiered in summer 2011 with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Magic Flute in a production by Katharina Thalbach . The production was attended by almost 40,000 people during the three-week festival. In summer 2012 the opera festival was continued with George Bizet's Carmen in a production by Volker Schlöndorff .

Venue

The venue for the Berlin Seefestspiele is the Wannsee lake stage . The Wannsee lido in the Zehlendorf district of Berlin is the largest inland lake swimming pool in Europe. The complex was built in 1929/30 in the New Objectivity style by Martin Wagner and Richard Ermisch and is now a listed building. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the lido on May 12, 2007, the facility was last extensively renovated.

Initiators

Peter Schwenkow founded Concert Concept Veranstaltungs GmbH in 1978, which was transferred to Deutsche Entertainment AG in1998. Since 2006 he has been a member of the Berlin House of Representatives (CDU).

Christoph Dammann is the director of the Seefestspiele Berlin. Before that he was artistic director of the Cologne Opera and the Portuguese National Opera .

Michael Mronz organized numerous major sporting events. He works in various fields with his agency MMP Veranstaltungsund Vermarktungs GmbH, founded in 1992.

Burghard Zahlmann is the managing director of Concertbüro Zahlmann GmbH in Berlin, which was founded in 1990. This organizes concerts, tours and events in Berlin and the new federal states as well as in Bavaria and Austria.

Cooperation with the cultural broadcaster ARTE : TV-Casting Open Opera 2012

For the new production of Georges Bizet's Carmen in the summer of 2012, the Seefestspiele Berlin, in collaboration with ARTE, are looking for a second cast via the TV casting "Open Opera - Who Wants to Be Carmen?" The roles of Carmen, Micaëla, Don José and Escamillo are cast. The show is broadcast in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and France.
