Nevio Passaro (born May 11, 1980 in Bad Windsheim ) is a German - Italian singer , songwriter and producer who uses Italian as well as German and English for his self-composed music.

biography

Life

Nevio Passaro grew up in the district town of Neustadt an der Aisch in Central Franconia . Even as a small child he was interested in music, not least because of his mother, a music teacher , who introduced him to his first musical instrument, the piano, at an early age. In the following years he learned to play the piano and guitar independently. During his school days he already made small appearances in in-house musicals and realized his first projects.

From 2000 to 2005 he studied “Modern Foreign Languages ​​for Interpreters and Translators” at the University of Bologna , Forlì . In December 2006 he graduated as a simultaneous interpreter and translator for Italian, German, English and French.

He has lived and worked in Berlin since 2007, where he runs his own artist management & recording studio as part of “Studio Uno”.

Career

Already in 1999 Nevio Passaro released his first single La mia parola under BMG Ariola (RCA) , in 2006 he reached fourth place in the third season of Deutschland sucht den Superstar . As a result, he has performed numerous live performances throughout Germany as well as in Austria , Luxembourg , Italy , Switzerland , Slovakia and South Africa . With Universal Music he signed a new record deal on August 8, 2006. His self-composed single Amore Per Semper was released on January 19, 2007 and immediately reached number two in the German single charts. The first album Nevio was released on February 16, 2007, reached number five in the German album charts in the first week and later reached gold status .

On May 3, 2007, Nevio Passaro received the Comet in the “Best Newcomer” category. He was also nominated in the “Best Artist” category. He also won the Bavarian Popkomm Music Lion as "Shooting Star 2007". His Nevio tour took him through 17 German and Austrian cities within three weeks.

The second studio album Due was released on September 19, 2008 in Germany. The first single, Sento , was released on September 5, 2008. A little later, the singer gave an unplugged show in the Konzerthaus Dortmund and presented his new album. The Due tour took place in Germany in January and February 2009. On February 27, 2009 the music video for his single Non Ti Aspettavo (Libertà) , a duet with the Australian singer Gabriella Cilmi , was presented, which was released in April 2009. The album also contains another duet ( Gli ultimi brividi ) with the Italian Sanremo winner Giorgia .

The presentation of Nevio Passaro's third album Berlino took place on April 7, 2011 in Berlin. The album was released in advance in a fan edition on May 20, 2011 and has been officially on sale since July 29, 2011. Passaro composed both texts and melodies himself and in his own studio. The subsequent Berlino tour took Nevio Passaro through a total of 15 German cities in September / October 2011 and ended in the Austrian capital Vienna.

In 2012, Nevio Passaro took part in the Sat.1 music game show The Winner is ... , which he successfully finished as best in the “Professionals” category. In September 2012, he also visited the cities of Cologne, Hamburg and Berlin as part of his Dal vivo tour.

The single Castingstar was released on March 28, 2014 . Castingstar is a pre-release single for Nevio Passaro's fourth studio album, Nordsüdlich von hier , which he is currently working on. He only interprets German-language texts.

During the Musikmesse Frankfurt on April 18, 2015, Nevio Passaro received the specialist music award for both the best video 2015 ( casting star ) and in the “German Act 2015” category. On May 1, 2015, he opened the German Pavilion at Expo 2015 in Milan with his concert . On October 3, 2015, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of German unity, he played on the stage of the Festival of Unity at the Brandenburg Gate .

On November 26, 2015, the current single Piccolo re (Make Love Not War) was released , a duet with the Italian tenor Domenico Re , which is also included on the new edition of the album Berlino ( Berlino reloaded ) released on December 11, 2015 . All proceeds from this single as well as half of the proceeds from the album will benefit refugee aid.

In the period from 5 to 11 May 2016 accompanied Nevio as ambassadors together with Fidei Donum -Priester Stefan Hippler and the initiator of the year in Dresden held HOPE Gala, Viola Klein, this year's trip to Africa the project HOPE Cape Town to Cape Town . As part of this ambassadorial activity, he visited a children's hospital supported by the HOPE Cape Town Foundation, as well as various townships and schools. Passaro also made musical appearances in South Africa on May 6, 2016 in the South African TV show ExpressoShow and during the Ball of HOPE on May 7, 2016, also in Cape Town.

Its North South of here tour in 2017 led Nevio in several European countries. It began on September 2, 2017 in Castelnuovo del Garda ( Italy ), followed by several concerts in Germany and in Komárno, Slovakia . The final concert, at which Ralf Gustke and Rainer Scheithauer, as well as Chris Thompson ( Manfred Mann's Earthband , The Alan Parsons Project ) were on stage, took place on November 18, 2017 in Neu Wulmstorf . The tour will continue in 2018.

Nevio Passaro and his agency “Studio Uno” took over the musical direction for the 5th Spring Ball in aid of the Palmengarten Frankfurt Foundation and Botanical Garden Frankfurt am Main on February 24, 2018. In addition to his own band, he brought the internationally known musician Ann Sophie to the stage of the Palmengarten Society House.

On July 6, 2018, All in all, the first single from Nevio Passaro's upcoming German-language album Nordsüdlich von hier was released . The second single was released on March 1, 2019 under the name Much more . On October 11, 2019, the third single followed with  Hier am Meer .

In the period from 14 to 27 January 2020 accompanied Nevio together with Eric Martin (musician) ( Mr. Big ), the British band FRONTM3N (Mick Wilson - 10cc , Peter Howarth - The Hollies , Pete Lincoln - The Sweet , Sailor ( Band) ) at a total of five concerts on their Up Close tour in the cities of Cologne , Magdeburg , Berlin , Halle (Saale) and Dresden .

On April 24, 2020, another German-language single, Maybe , was released in which Nevio Passaro addresses the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on society.
