The Berlin Music Week combines a music festival and conference and business events. It has been held annually in September since 2010. The festival offers a mixture of electro , electro-pop , indietronic and indie-rock and takes place in the Berlin districts of Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg and at Berlin-Tempelhof Airport .
This project is funded by the Senate Department for Economics, Technology and Research, the European Fund for Regional Development , Projekt Zukunft Berlin , Berlin Partner and visitBerlin.

- In 2010 and 2011 Popkomm , the trade fair for music and entertainment, was part of Berlin Music Week. Since 2012 the conference and business part has been called "WORD!" Organized and carried out under the direct control of Kulturprojekte Berlin GmbH.

Program SOUND!
Under the umbrella of Berlin Music Week, the live and entertainment section SOUND! many other events, so u. a. the Berlin Festival , the New Music Award and the Auf-den-Dächern-Festival from tape.tv and Spiegel Online . The program of the showcase festival "First We Take Berlin!" Is initiated by the Berlin Music Week in cooperation with Melt! Booking. created. The Showcase Festival serves as a platform for newcomers and is aimed equally at consumers and specialist audiences in the music industry.

2010
From 6 to 12 September 2010 the main venues were the Kulturbrauerei with 40 events (including the Summerize Festival or concerts by Jazzkomm), Tempelhof Airport and other venues in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, grouped together under "ClubSpreeBerlin". The Popkomm and the Berlin Festival took place at Tempelhof Airport.
Around 2,000 visitors took part in the Berlin Music Week conference, consisting of a total of 130 sessions and keynotes from the 253 speakers. 7,500 people gathered at Popkomm, 15,000 at the Berlin Festival. 60 bands and artists presented themselves on different stages of the Popkomm Showcase Festival. During the week other events took place in the Kulturbrauerei and as part of "ClubSpreeBerlin", which were attended by around 12,000 guests.

From September 7th to 11th, 2011, 115 bands and artists performed at the Popkomm Showcase Festival. Around 5,200 representatives from the music industry met at the last Popkomm. The Berlin Festival once again attracted 15,000 visitors. In addition to the .HBC, the Kulturbrauerei again offered space for several events with more than 12,000 visitors during the week. Around 300 bands, artists and DJs demonstrated their skills in 63 clubs during the Berlin Music Week Club Night.

In 2012 the conference and business part became “WORD!” For the first time. This was organized u. a. in the Spreespeicher, in the nhow Hotel and in the Postbahnhof. 2,000 delegates gathered here. One of the speakers was Marusha (subject: "The Gentrification of Sub-Culture"). The club committee's club night recorded 18,000 visitors who celebrated in over 50 clubs. 20,000 visitors took part in the Berlin Festival.

The fourth Berlin Music Week took place from September 4th to 8th, 2013.
Program WORD!
The conference and business platform WORD! instead of. Music and media professionals as well as representatives of the start-up scene met there over two days to exchange ideas and discuss current topics in discussions, workshops, meetings and networking sessions. 20 start-ups, including gigflip, Todaytickets, 50 Hours and many more, were also given the opportunity to present their concept to the international music industry and potential investors on September 6th. The conference program focuses primarily on the areas of “Technology and Music” and “Recorded Music”. Music technologies at the Berlin location were a central topic. An essential part of WORD! was the congress part of the VUT Indie Days, organized by the Association of Independent Music Companies . In cooperation with the rest of the congress program, the perspective of small and medium-sized music companies was discussed. The content of Berlin Music Week WORD! developed the Communications GmbH, the all2gethernow eV and the VUT. Various other players in the music and digital economy were involved in the program.
