Projekt Zukunft Berlin is a state initiative of the Senate Department for Economics, Technology and Research of the State of Berlin to promote the growth area of information and communication technology (ICT), media and creative industries in Berlin .

Objectives, tasks and fields of action

As a link between business , science and politics , Projekt Zukunft works to improve the framework conditions for Berlin-based companies and supports their innovation and competitiveness . The guiding principle is a creative, innovative and digital metropolis with an international impact. Project Future works out strategies for the location, develops new funding instruments and coordinates the actors. Through networks, conferences, workshops and platforms, Projekt Zukunft organizes the exchange between companies, interdisciplinary and worldwide. Cross -industry partnerships are encouraged with funding competitions ( cross innovation ). Large business-related events such as Berlin Fashion Week , Berlin Art Week or Berlin Web Week offer actors an international stage. Through studies, reports, industry news and campaigns, Projekt Zukunft also provides information on current developments in the industries.

The promotion of the ICT, media and creative industries is part of Berlin's economic policy. Projekt Zukunft supported these projects by initiating various funding measures and adapted them specifically to the needs of the industries. The Crowdfunding Berlin platform presents current crowdfunding and crowd investing projects from Berlin. The Design Transfer Bonus strengthens design skills in technology-oriented companies. The VC Fonds Kreativwirtschaft provides startups with venture capital. The ProFIT innovation program promotes innovations and helps very young startups to set up their businesses with early-stage financing. The coaching BONUS supports business advice. The Joint Task “Improvement of the Regional Economic Structure” (GRW) program subsidizes cooperation networks, investment and infrastructure projects. In the first half of 2013, almost 41 million euros were approved for companies in the ICT, media and creative industries; this corresponds to 29% of the economic development funds.

Competitions, networks and events

With competitions, networks and events, Projekt Zukunft brings topics and people together and stimulates dialogue, interdisciplinary exchange, and industrial and research cooperation. Competitions should give the fields of action additional impulses and find and promote the best ideas and concepts on the basis of a transparent process, such as "Design & Healthcare" (innovation cooperation), "BeWireless" (wireless applications), "Geolabs-Geo | Apps" (location-based services) ), "Creative r @ diocontest" (web radio formats), "Start Your Fashion Business" (fashion) or the "Berliner Crowdfunding Preis" (crowdfunding campaigns). Projekt Zukunft acts as an organizer, partner or supporter with various events at which the opportunity for networking and exchange of experiences is created, for example through the creative weeks established by Projekt Zukunft - such as Fashion Week, Art Week or Web Week - and numerous conferences, festivals, Workshops, grassroots events, hackathons or pitching. Projekt Zukunft is a founder and member of various networks in Berlin, Europe and worldwide, exchanges ideas with its partners on best practice models, including: a. the campaign "log in. berlin.", Open it berlin, ECIA - European Creative Industries Alliance or Open Cities.

Information, platforms and publications

To promote Berlin-based companies and creatives, Projekt Zukunft provides industry information, studies, reports and platforms about Berlin as a business location and all of the financing and funding programs available in Berlin, for example with the Creative City Berlin portal or the CrowdfundingBerlin platform on crowdfunding - and crowdinvesting projects from Berlin. Regular publication of economic data for the ICT, media, creative industries, studies on innovation labs and incubators, crowdfunding, sharing economy, the most important foreign markets for music companies and industry reports complete the portfolio.

Awards

Projekt Zukunft was recognized for its work and a. awarded by the German government, the European Commission and UNESCO . On December 14, 2012, Projekt Zukunft was awarded the title “Motion Detector 2012” by the German government's initiative for culture and creative industries. In the same month, the Berlin state initiative was awarded the “Bronze Label” by the European Cluster Excellence Initiative (ECEI). UNESCO awarded Berlin the title “City of Design” back in 2006, and Berlin has been part of UNESCO's Creative City Network ever since.
