The Berlin Web Week ( BWW ) was an annual series of events that brought together several conferences and events related to current trends in the digital economy and society. It was a joint initiative of the Senate Department for Economics, Technology and Research of the State of Berlin and Berlin Partner for Economics and Technology GmbH .

According to self-promotion “the largest festival on the digital scene in Europe”, over 5,000 participants were counted in 2013; In 2014 there were 18,240 visitors from all over the world.

history

The Berlin Web Week was started in 2008 as a project by Alexander Kölpin, Kai Uhlemeyer, Sebastian Wallroth and Tobias Kaufmann and sponsored by Berlin Partner. As part of a web calendar, all events related to Web2.0Expo Europe 2008 and Barcamp Berlin 3 should be collected and made accessible to visitors. Due to its success, the calendar was subsequently continued by the initiators all year round and reported on all events with a digital reference.

From 2009 Berlin Partner used the Berlin Web Week brand to organize an annual event week. Conceptually, large conferences and smaller events were bundled together in order to attract more visitors. Various conferences were named as the main events. In 2009 the Berlin Web Week was moved to spring after the first week of events took place in autumn.

At the beginning of 2014, Berlin Partner also took over the website and discontinued the calendar. After a redesign, the site became a landing page for the events of the event week. The last Berlin Web Week took place in 2016. The concept of the Event Week was continued by Berlin Partner. In 2018 there was Berlin Fashion Week , Health Week , Berlin Science Week and Asia-Pacific Week Berlin .
