Web Monday
As Webmontag a number is called informal, non-commercial, locally organized meetings on the subject of Internet and digital technologies. The events are aimed mainly at users , software developers , business development of the local government , entrepreneurs , entrepreneurs , venture capitalists , scientists , bloggers and web designers and find each place on a Monday.
Origin and history
Inspired by the culture of Silicon Valleys , Web Monday started on November 7, 2005 in Cologne as an attempt to bring a little “Californian sunshine” to Germany. Web Monday was inspired by similar events in the San Francisco Bay Area, such as Wiki Wednesday or Barcamp . In the meantime, there are regular web assemblies in 34 cities in Germany and Switzerland. After more than 10 years and with over 1500 documented events, Web Monday has become an integral part of the network culture in a large number of cities.
On Monday, April 11, 2016, the largest web Monday in its history took place in Nuremberg with over 1000 participants. Participants were u. a. Ilse Aigner (politician) and Albert Wenger (venture investor).
procedure
The events usually take place on a Monday evening in a relaxed, open setting with drinks, WiFi , interactive presentations on current projects and products, the introduction and exchange of new ideas and networking . The participants are expected to be open to new ideas, willing to learn and to share knowledge.
Admission to the events is free. The costs (room rental, technology) are often financed by sponsors . Speaker fees are not paid.
In addition to local websites and www.webmontag.de, the organization and registration takes place via social networks such as Twitter , XING , Facebook , Google+ Meetup or Lanyrd.
The event formats range from casual discussion groups to keynote speeches with intensive discussions to tightly organized presentations in the Pecha-Kucha style.
