Daniel Victor Snaith (* 1978 in London , Ontario ), known under the stage names Caribou , Daphni and (formerly) Manitoba , is a Canadian electro musician .
Snaith, son of mathematician Victor Snaith , was born in London, Canada, and grew up in Dundas . He attended Parkside Secondary School and studied mathematics at the University of Toronto and Imperial College , London. There he received his PhD with a thesis entitled Overconvergent Siegel Modular Symbols .
Career
Initially, Snaith worked under the name "Manitoba". However, due to a lawsuit from Richard Manitoba , he had to give up this name.
His album Andorra , released in 2007, won the Polaris Music Prize in 2008, while the album Swim received the Juno Award in 2011 in the “Electronic Album of the Year” category.
Snaith is usually supported by a live band when he performs live, where he usually plays the drums.
Snaith currently lives in England.
