ACL Yoshiro Irino Memorial Prize

The ACL Yoshiro Irino Memorial Prize ( Japanese ア ジ ア 作曲家 連 盟 入 野 義 朗 記念 賞 , Asia Sakkyokuka Renmei Irino Yoshirō Kinenshō ) is one of the most prestigious music prizes in the Asia-Pacific region. It is awarded regularly by the Asian Composers League (ACL). The award was created in memory of the founder of the ACL, the Japanese composer Irino Yoshirō . It is awarded to the best composers under the age of 35 in the respective host country as part of the ACL Conference and Festival . The first award ceremony took place in 1981 at Law Wing-fai (Hong Kong). Since then, the award has been given to later leading composers in their countries such as Chan Wing-wah (Hong Kong) and Phoon Yew Tien (Singapore). One of the world's most recognized award winners is the Chinese Tan Dun , who won a Grammy and Oscar. The last laureate was Shogo Takahashi (Japan) in 2014 .
